Black Eye – Aesthetically Unacceptable

Black eye is due to bleeding under the skin near the eye. It can also be caused due to an injury, including a skull fracture or a head injury. A black eye need not be serious. But if there is bleeding then it can be serious. It can affect the vision and cornea. It can also lead to tremendous pressure inside the eyeball (glaucoma). Often blows are exchanged between two people and one ends up with a black eye due to a blow inflicted upon him or her by the other person. It is an ugly sight. What does one do about it?

Having a black eye may be socially embarrassing. Most people think you had a fight and lost to the victim. Much discomfort is caused due to it. Aesthetically also, it is not a nice thing to suffer from. It is not a serious injury, but may require medical attention if bleeding occurs.
