If you are one of those who use the computer for more than 4 hours a day, you will sooner or later develop certain symptoms that would indicate that your eyes are strained with the usage of computer.
The common symptoms are –
- Eye fatigue
- Dry or irritated eyes
- Sensitivity to lighting
- After images when you look away from the screen
- Blurred vision
- Double vision
- Neck stiffness
- Headache
- Muscle spasms
Sometimes the eyestrain is caused by certain environmental factors that will intensify one or more symptoms. Such as –
- Bright lights within the periphery of your field of vision
- Reflection of light on your computer screen
- Awkward position of sitting
Tips to ease Eyestrain
- Sit at least 18-28 inches away from the screen
- Blink often
- Frequently close your eyes, then look far into the distance
- Keep your screen dust-free to minimize visual interference
- Improve the lighting around your monitor
- Don’t focus on a single object for a prolonged period of time
- Tilt the monitor slightly below eye level
