Though LASIK surgery is hassle free and simple but still there is few important things one need to follow strictly. 5 important don’ts one need to remember after LASIK eye surgery are listed below:
- Don’t Forget Post-LASIK Meeting with Your Eye Surgeon: This is the most important point one need to remember hence make sure that you don’t miss your post operative meeting. Basically these post operative meeting with your eye surgeon are designed observe your healing progress. These meetings with your eye surgeon are very important for your healing process.
- Don’t Touch Your Eye After LASIK Eye Surgery: Make sure that you don’t touch your eye after the eye surgery. Except for using eye drops prescribed by your eye surgeon you are not allowed to touch your eyes. After eye surgery your eyes tend to be highly sensitive hence increasing the chance of infection. Sometimes your eye surgeon asks you to use eye protector while sleeping so as to avoid poking or rubbing of eyes.
- Don’t Exercise at least for 2 Day after LASIK: It is better not to resume your exercise or other sport activities for at least 2 days after LASIK. Even when you are going out make sure that you use protective eye gear. Generally indoor activities like watching TV, working on computer, reading are allowed after a day of surgery. Outdoor activities like playing, sunbathing, etc. are allowed to do after 3 days of surgery. Other heavy activities like jogging; exercising can be resumed after a week.
- Don’t Use Make-Up: Any sort of make-up are strictly prohibited. Make sure that you even don’t use facial lotions or lipsticks. According to some surgeons facila make-up excluding eye make-up can be resumed after 2 days. Eye make-up can be resumed after at least 1 week of eye surgery. This period can vary from person to person depending upon the healing process.
- Don’t Drive: Make sure that you don’t drive any sort of vehicle after the eye surgery. The prohibited period vary depending upon the healing progress of your eyes. Even if your doctor asks you to resume driving make sure that you don’t drive long distances. Don’t forget to wear protective eye gear before driving any vehicle.
Lastly and the most important thing is to follow all the post surgery instructions given to you by your surgeon. Any problem experienced should be reported to your eye surgeon immediately.
