People suffering from lice in their hair have to be very careful, as there are times when these lice get transferred to the eyelids causing redness and itchiness in the eye.

There are two types of lice that infest the eyelids

1) Crab Lice
2) Head Louse

Lice in the hair create the same type of symptoms that Blepharitis creates. This condition is very common amongst school going children, and one can notice that these children’s eye turn red, and there is some itchiness and loss of eyelashes due to this problem.

Also, one notices movements of lice under the eyelashes.

Treatment

However, this condition can be treated with a non-medicated ointment that suffocates the lice eggs. Any other kind of treatment should be administered only with the permission of the doctor.

This problem tends to affect a child’s self esteem to a great extent. Therefore measures should be taken to instill confidence as well as treatment of the condition in the child.
