Infection in the eyes can be either caused by the bacteria or viruses. Whenever bacteria infects the eye a discharge of yellow color drains from the eye. This condition is known as Bacterial Conjunctivitis or Mattery Eyes or Runny Eyes.
Symptoms Of Bacterial Eye Infections:
The symptoms of bacterial eye infections are mentioned in the following points:
- Yellow discharge from the eyes
- Redness will be noticed in the white portion of the eyes.
- Eyelids will be struck together due to the discharge of the pus, especially when you will get up after the sleep.
- Eyelids will swell up to give puffy appearance.
Causes Of Bacterial Eye Infection:
Infections in eyes are caused either due viruses or bacteria. Bacterial infections in eyes are caused due to the presence of bacteria like staphylococci, streptococci, or haemophilus. These bacteria can enter the body from person’s own body. Places like respiratory tract, hands, legs etc. can catch infection easily. Sometimes, close interaction with the infected person can also spread the disease to you.
Prevention From Bacterial Eye Infection:
There are few steps which can be followed to avoid the bacterial infection of the eyes. These steps are:
- Maintain good hygiene especially of the hands and the face.
- The sharing of the face towels, and other clothes must be avoided especially if someone suffers from conjunctivitis.
- Conjunctivitis is spread by rubbing the eyes. If you rub your infected eyes and touch another person with the same hands he will also get infected. So, make sure to wash your hands after touching or rubbing your eyes.
- Pus and crust that comes out of the eyes must be removed with lukewarm water. This will prevent infection from spreading.
- Clean your eyes with disposable tissues. It will also prevent the infection from spreading.
