Dandruff on the eyebrows is a most embarrassing condition for anyone. It not only spoils the look of the person, but also makes others talk about your unhygienic practices (it is mostly caused due to unhygienic lifestyle). There are many methods to cure this ailment, but the main point of concern here is to prevent its recurrence. Eyebrow dandruff can be prevented if certain tips are followed genuinely as a daily routine.
What are the tips to prevent recurrence of eyebrow dandruff?
Eat a healthy diet:
Other than reducing your body fat, this becomes yet another reason for following a healthy diet. Eyebrow dandruff or any other dandruff is caused by fungal infection which thrives on sugar, yeast or any other fatty items. You should avoid all the food items which are rich in fat and yeast content. Try to consume foods which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and vitamins E and B. Make sure to eat lots of citrus fruits and green vegetables which are helpful in keeping your body fit and healthy.
Don’t worry and be happy:
In short, be away from all kind of stress. It causes complications in the defense system of body and encourages micro-organisms to attack the body, leading to many diseases and ailments. Dandruff is also the result of tension and stress. So, chill down and be calm always. If you start worrying too much then you will have to worry about wearing a black shirt as well.
Avoid using different hair styling products:
Use of hair gel, sprays, mousse etc on a regular basis results in dandruff on hair which can even spread to eyelid and eyebrows. These products cause excessive dryness of scalp which causes flaking and allergic reactions. The moment you see dandruff on your hair after using any such products, stop using them. You can use therapeutic hair products rather than chemical ones.
Apply lemon juice or vinegar on eyebrow:
Once the dandruff is treated well, make sure that you apply lemon juice or vinegar on alternate weeks. These are very useful natural products to keep dandruff at bay.
Have a hair wash on daily basis:
There have been cases where the fungal hair dandruff has spread to entire face. To avoid such complications, wash your hair scalp with herbal or mild shampoos on regular basis. The first wash clears the waxy sebum and repeated wash rinses away the remaining scales.
Use anti-dandruff shampoos:
To remove dry itchy powdery scales from the eyebrow, anti-dandruff shampoos are the best. Use the same shampoo for your hair as well. There are many varieties of anti-dandruff shampoos available, you can choose depending on your requirements. Use these on alternate days so that this prevents the recurrence of dry scales.
Use of herbal oils or gels on your eyebrow hair:
There are many varieties of herbal oils and gels which are made from natural herbs and are beneficial to cure as well as prevent dandruff. This is helpful if the oil is massaged every day at night before going to bed. The whole night effect of oil can be seen after two to three weeks. Once the eyebrow dandruff is cured, continue the usage.
Be aware of the ingredients which are present in anti-dandruff shampoos:
Shampoos like Nizoral, which contains ketoconazole, are very effective in treating this condition if caused by fungus. 1% ketoconazole can be bought with any prescription and is very effective against dandruff.
Have patience while using medicated products:
When you start your treatment for curing this ailment, you should have patience. There are a few patients who are able to recover from the problem quite soon, but others might take a few weeks or months time to get cured.
In case the problem persists and you are not able to get any relief, please see a dermatologist immediately. It could be some other infection which needs to be diagnosed.
