Ways to Reduce Redness in the Eyes

If you have been working continuously without any break, than make sure you get take some short nap.  Sound sleep is very essential to keep your eyes re-hydrated. Without proper sleep, the eyes dry away appearing red.

Wash your Eyelids

Even after a good sleep if your eyes seem to be red, then the problem is with your eyelids. This condition is known as blepharitis, an eyelid infection. To treat this, wash your eyelids with lukewarm water before going to sleep.

Redness in the eyes during the day time can be due to dryness. When this is the case, you can use artificial tears to keep your eyes moist.

Soak a washcloth in cold water and cover your eyes with wet cloth for some time. The coldness helps to constrict the blood vessels while the water adds moisture to the eyes, therefore removing the redness.

While swimming, ensure that you wear good fitting goggles to protect from chlorine that may enter the eye and cause eye irritation. Also wear shades while travelling to protect eyes from turning red.
